Architecture meets nature! ARD with Peter Berg

In an exciting episode of ‘Ratgeber Haus & Garten’ from 4 November 2012, the ARD team takes us to Peter Berg’s fascinating private garden in Sinzig. Here, Berg shows how he has created a unique garden paradise through the harmonious combination of architecture and nature.

A central theme of this episode is the question of how to create a harmonious unity between building and garden. Peter Berg impressively demonstrates how he uses large stones, regional materials and the right choice of plants to create a bridge between the house and the garden. Particularly impressive is a cube extension that integrates the garden into the house through large window fronts.

Inspired by Bauhaus architecture and the principles of Japanese garden design, Berg combines high-quality shrubs, perennials and grasses to create a feeling of lightness and naturalness. The use of regional stones such as basalt, greywacke and slate lends the garden a special authenticity.
