Peter Berg nominated for the SGD Award 2025

The SGD Award, presented by the “Society of Garden Designers”, took place for the first time in 2012. Projects by Christopher Bradley-Hole, Robert Myers and Dan Pearson are among the winners of the previous awards ceremonies. We are now excited to see the results of this year’s SGD awards on February 7, 2025 in London.

With the project “Set in Stone” we are delighted to be among the finalists in the “International Residential Landscape & Garden” category. You can find a short video about the nominated project in the blog post

Hillside garden above a valley with a stream running through it

An extremely steep slopes often means garden space become unusable, which was the case with this project near Trier. Peter Berg and his team, however, were able to overcome this challenge by terracing the garden with natural stone. A particular highlight is the footbridge over the rocks, which connects the hillside garden with the nearby small valley and stream.

Being closer to you – Peter Berg and Partners

Our team takes on projects across the country. Our passion is creating gardens in special places that offer us new challenges, so the location is secondary.

As of 2024, Gartenlandschaft has expanded beyond Sinzig am Rhein and we now have representatives in other locations across Germany. The team has gained three partners with the additions of Paul Heidt, Daniel Pässler and Tim Vennemann. They are growing GartenLandscahft’s footprint to include Baden, the Black Forest, Alsace and Westphalia. With our shared values and approach to garden design, we are delighted that we are now closer to you.

Garden design rooted in nature by Peter Berg in collaboration with Petra Pelz – 1st prize at “Gardens of the Year 2021”

This garden is a vision brought to life. It is an impressive demonstration of what garden and landscape design that is rooted in nature can do for the environment and conservation. Everything is covered in plants, including the roofs, which are accessible and blend seamlessly into the garden landscape, creating an additional habitat for animals, plants and people.

The collaboration and joint planning resulted in an extraordinary symbiosis between the architecture and garden. Click here to find out more about this project

Our projects – a selection of garden designs inspired by nature

We use the principles of nature, an eye for aesthetics and a true love of design when we develop our projects. Each location brings its own set of highlights and challenges, which ultimately results in unique outcomes every time.

Garden literature: BergStyle. Garden Design inspired by Pückler

Peter Berg addresses the question of how gardens today can be designed to be varied, user-oriented and close to nature. In the tradition of the garden visionary Count Hermann von Pückler (1785-1871), creator of the world-famous parks in Muskau and Branitz, Berg shows how architecture, landscape and garden can visually unite to form a sustainable and forward-looking whole.
